Hardback Combined Football Grounds of the Early 1900s revised volume
The backstory to the original Football Grounds of the Early 1900s goes back to a flyer dropped off by our milkman in 1983. At that time the League Cup was sponsored by the National Dairy Council and, as a promotion, customers were offered a special copy of The Football Grounds of England & Wales by Simon Inglis. The very first image in the book is an old photo of Goodison Park, with the source acknowledged as The Book of Football. It was many years later that I bought a reprint and was amazed at the number of excellent photos included, but frustrated that they were placed throughout the book. How good would a book be if the images were grouped together, maybe with a map, as well as the historical background for each ground? If nobody else had thought the same, I d best take the project on myself. In 2014 the book was published as Football Grounds of the Early 1900s, and is now out of print. In the intervening years I ve found many more images so have updated the book.
